Ross Kemp is more likely to be known for playing the hard man Grant Mitchell in Eastenders than for an emotive subject such as dementia but his latest series of ‘Ross Kemp: Living with…’ probes into the ‘real impact of dementia’.
He interviews Scott, husband of fellow Eastenders’ star Barbara Windsor, who is currently living with late-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Scott discusses openly about the progression of the disease and the practicalities of living with someone with full-blown dementia.
Ross also stays with actor and magician Jerry, who is in the early stages and who talk of how it has affected his work and family life.
Speaking of the documentary, Kemp said:
“I’ve always believed that to understand a problem, you need to get as close to it as you possibly can. So I’m back meeting people who are living with some of the biggest issues facing Britain today. With almost a million people living with dementia.”
The two-part documentary first aired on Wednesday June 11th on ITV and can be watched on the ITV Hub. The second part will follow this Wednesday 17th.
