Activity Ideas
- Have a themed wartime day – bake wartime recipes, play Songs that Won the War CD and sing along. Watch an old episode of Dad’s Army (click on the link) https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b007tlxv/dads-army
- Using the 1960’s/1970s Childhood packs, lay them out on a table and ask participants to select one or two to talk about. What would be their perfect toy or game at the time.
- Use the Victorian pack, discuss the items, then make a Victorian Posy. Cut a circle the size of a teaplate from some cotton fabric. Make holes approx 3cm in from the edge at 3 cm intervals. Take a small amount of potpourri or dried lavender and place in the middle. Thread some ribbon through the holes and pull the ends together to trap the potpourri. Hand near a bed or in a wardrobe to scent the air.
